2017 Annual Dinner
December 1, 2017
Speaker: Christine Musisi – External Relations Director – UN Habitat
Topic: Restoration.
T he first annual dinner was held on December 1, 2017. This was meant to celebrate and appreciate the strides that Household of Love has made so far. The dinner attracted over 60 attendants including the ladies who attend regular meetings with their spouses, friends, volunteers and families that support Household of Love.
Christine Musisi, the key note speaker, shared about challenges and hope to all those at the dinner. Below is a summary of her sermonette:
I am a broken vessel that The Lord has decided to use today. I have many hurts going on even now, personal and professional struggles I am dealing with, and was thinking that I am not the best person to stand before you today and share. But I remembered my purpose here on earth – to disciple the nations and mission to empower others to reach their destiny. So I believe that as I minister through Christ to you, He will also minister to me.

We have had heart breaks, been rejected in one way or the other, have been abused, betrayed, sick or lost what we deemed most precious. Some of us have strived to be good, even good in The Lord but have struggled with sins and habits that make us fall short of the glory of God.
Why?
- We are sinful in nature and the wages of sin is death – even though we are forgiven and cleansed, sin always has negative consequences in our lives that we must live with (e.g. Fornication and early pregnancy or HIV)
- Our choices made in doubt, anger or fear always lead to the wrong decisions and negative outcomes
- Choices of those who have influence over us often lead to poverty, suffering and loss and are made worse by the way we choose to react to these circumstances.

But Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. There is a bigger cosmic war that Satan decided to wage on his creator and Lord.
Until we understand this, it is sometimes difficult to comprehend the pain we endure, the acceleration of evil and the move towards a shameless society. We wonder why a father abuses his little princess. We wonder why a wife sees more in another than her beloved husband. We wonder why a brother or sister will fight and even kill you for a piece of property. We wonder why entire communities and nations are destroyed to make good business for the construction industry of those who wage or support the war.
We must remind ourselves that the Lord Jesus Christ has already won this battle and that when we are in full armor, we are able to stand strong and to overcome the enemy and his agents.
So, the big question – how do we live as overcomers in this difficult world? What kind of justice do we seek? in a nutshell, we need to: –
-
- Know who we are
- Know and pursue our purpose.
- Know God’s desire of how we should live.
- Know and undertake our mission.
- Know and exercise the Spiritual Power that we have been given:
- Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself (Matt 6:34)
- Know what we have: The Spirit of God in you. The Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from death and ascended Him to heaven.
- Know and Trust in The Lord – the rewards are immense:
- Remember God’s promises. There are three promises I would like us to focus on:
-
-
- Haggai 2: 9: ‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place, I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty.” – His temple, which is you!
- Isaiah 43:2: When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
- “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice.
-
- Seek true justice: Be the source of the river of life! The love of Jesus for us and His command for us to love each other brings justice to the world and to His people.
True justice comes from our Lord Jesus Christ. His ultimate sacrifice, is a demonstration of His love for us and is rooted in His total love for the Father. Jesus said “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.”
