Right To Food

HOLC recognizes the limitations of the people

of Korogocho, Kibra and other poor urban Nairobi dwellers in meeting food and nutrition security. They have also examined the magnitude of the use of social media and the power of group level conversations and has identified an opportunity that can trigger conversation around the right to food and how it can be mitigated.

Consequently, in partnership with African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC) and other community-based organizations, Household of Love Centre designed and implemented a campaign on the Right to Food.

The campaign, which was implemented over 6 months, aimed at aiding the participants stimulate a conversation on the Right to Food, as well as advocate for the action needed by policy makers to realize food security in Kenya. HOLC used plenary sessions, a community day dubbed, the ‘Soup Kitchen’, WhatsApp, Facebook and twitter, to dissemination messages on the right to food.
